Lots of people raise money for charity by holding coffee mornings, but the local 'Cake Break'  event in aid of  The Multiple Sclerosis Society that we attended last week was definately a cut above in terms of the delicious cakes on offer!

Hosted by Fiona Mulhall, who lives with MS herself, and assisted by two friends  who are also MS sufferers, the day was a great success with the house full of enthusiastic cake-eaters, including Usk photographer, Mansel Davies.     More than £300 was raised for the MS Society.

The majority of cakes were baked by Fiona's daughter Heather, who told us that she has a real passion for baking, having started as a young girl.   Now as well as the cakes she also prepares lots of  family meals.  This is a great help to Fiona who despite coping with symptoms of MS manages to do a full-time job running Golden Valley Hobbies, Nr. Hereford with her husband, Tim.   He was much in evidence helping out,  filling up coffee cups and washing dishes - all done with a smile!

Fiona held the event as she wants to make people more aware of MS and the impact it has on families.  She also thinks it is important to support the Society, which provides money for research into MS, amongst the other important activities it carries out.

As well as a donation to the cake-break, we are making the MS Society our charity of the month for July, which means not only  will we feature the charity across our social media, but 25% profits from July's income will be donated.  Please tell your friends -the  more quotes made through our site, the more we can donate!
